BattleTech is a franchise that has seen massive change over the years since its inception in 1984. Initially, we explored the Third Succession War and the surrounding conflicts as we came to understand the Inner Sphere and humanity’s place within it. We then learned of the wars that caused the Inner Sphere to devolve from the lofty ideals of the Star League, namely the Amaris Civil War and the First and Second Succession Wars. When the descendants of the Star League Defense Force, the Clans, invaded the Inner Sphere in late 3049, the Clan Invasion era began. Successive eras have come and gone, but BattleTech was still BattleTech at its core.

But today, Catalyst Game Labs is expanding that offering with BattleTech: Gothic. This box set marks the first alternate universe for BattleTech. Humanity fights The Endless War since the fall of the Golden Age. Familiar, but different factions take up arms against each other and Abominations, horrible creatures of amalgamated flesh and steel. War-torn worlds have been burned, resulting in barren wastelands that humanity still seeks to conquer.

While still using the same classic rules of BattleTech, Gothic has introduced new elements that can be used to add interesting moments to games. The box set features eight all-new sculpts of classic BattleMechs, including: the UrbanMech, Firestarter, Scorpion, Phoenix Hawk, Rifleman, Marauder, King Crab, and the Atlas with different head, back, and bas relief options to make a truly custom miniature for your table. Also included is a rulebook so you can jump right into the action, along with a universe primer, the short story Reclamation and Rise, and a map of the Human Sphere to understand the setting. Building off of that; new map sheets, Alpha Strike, Battlefield Support, and Pilot Cards, punch boards with unique terrain features and unit options, record sheets, and a heavy stock reference sheet to run your games!

BattleTech: Gothic is the first release of the Continuum Series. With these releases, we aim to explore different versions of what the BattleTech universe could have been. The creative minds behind BattleTech and especially Gothic have plenty of ideas and we can’t wait to share them in the future!

What is BattleTech?

BattleTech is a longstanding, science fiction, tabletop, miniatures board game. Originally released in 1984 under the name “Battledroids”, BattleTech has brought interstellar warfare and intrigue to the kitchen table for over 40 years. Using BattleMechs, massive mechanical machines of war, factions make war against each other, all attempting to conquer territory and establish hegemony over all of the Inner Sphere. New factions, conflicts, and ‘Mechs have come and gone through the eras, but still the wars rage. The range has expanded to include roleplaying games, MechWarrior: Destiny and A Time of War, as well as a fast-playing miniatures skirmish game, Alpha Strike.
